Resourceful Hints for Creating Your File (File Specs):
• An important issue is whether or not your image bleeds.
A bleed is a printer term used to describe whether or not your photo, graphic, or type goes to the edge of the product. Remember when building a file, take into account the finished product. Consider cut size, trim, folding etc. For example, make sure your finished business card file is 2” x 3.5” (if the business card has bleeds make the file 2.125 x 3.625. Feel Free to request a template to help you!
We prefer all files one up
• Multiple page files are okay.
• Make sure the photo has been scanned at a minimum of 600 dpi.
• Be sure to set the color to CMYK
• Assign color profile to US sheetfed coated v2 (Adobe)
• Save all files in either EPS or PDF format.
• Wherever possible, convert fonts to outline; i.e. Illustrator • Be sure all links are embedded. If not then please send fonts, linked files.
MICROSOFT PUBLISHER HELP: Save as PDF for commercial printing:
• On the File menu, point to Pack and Go, and then click Take to a Commercial Printing service.
• In the pane at left, in the How will this publication be printed? list, click the option that you want. If you will be using an offset printing service, clickCommercial Press. If you will be using a high-end copy shop, click High quality printing.
• Click Printing Options.
• In the Print Options dialog box, select the options that you need. (Find links to more information on these options in the See Also section.) Click OK.
• Under Select an item to fix, repair any problems that Publisher has identified.
• Under Export, select the Create a PDF check box.
• Click Save.
• In the Pack and Go Wizard, select the location to which you want to export the file, and click Next.
If you want to make changes to the PDF after saving it, return to your original 2007 Microsoft Office system file in which you created it and save the file as PDF again.
